Kill Team Season 3: What’s New?
If you’re into Warhammer 40K’s Kill Team, there are some interesting updates in Season 3. Here’s a look at what’s happening.
Bheta-Decima: The New Setting
This season, the action moves to Bheta-Decima, a planet with lots of high platforms and hazardous areas. The new terrain impacts how you play, making height and positioning even more important.
the previous season ended when a colossal space hulk known as the Gallowdark tumbled towards a planet as its knotted mass of ancient ships finally started to unravel. That planet – the ill-fated Bheta-Decima – was once a paradise world rich in natural resources and untouched beauty, but the greed of the Adeptus Mechanicus soon saw it transformed into a vast industrial wasteland feeding the fires of multiple forge worlds.
…
many shards of the Gallowdark survived their impacts and disgorged tides of deranged cultists, frenzied xenos, and mutant hordes, all of whom now set their sights on the Imperial colonists.
Each impact site that did not eradicate its entire local area became a hotspot for Chaos corruption and violent raids, causing order across the planet to break down.
Soon, bands of dishevelled survivors fought bloody wars over dwindling supplies while enclaves of Adeptus Mechanicus survivors jealously guarded their resources. Years passed.
New Kill Teams
New teams join the battle: the Scout Squad and the Blades of Khaine.
The Scouts are good for sneaky tactics, while the Blades focus on close combat.
The teams fit well with the new terrain, naturally.
New Missions and Rules
There are nine new missions designed to make the most of the new terrain. Some players are talking about the jump tests, which can be frustrating if you roll a 1 and your unit gets stuck. A suggested fix is to use a Command Point to avoid this issue.
Split Boxes
This season introduces split boxes for terrain and kill teams. This is good for new players who want to start small, as well as for experienced players looking to expand their collection without a big upfront cost.
What do you think?
Season 3 of Kill Team brings some significant changes and some new terrain, teams, and missions.
Are you going to get on this or give it a pass?
